Thomas Beavitt in concert
Fingerstyle acoustic guitar & more
Scottish bard Thomas Beavitt first came to the Netherlands in 1993 with his band the Night Kitchen, playing in such venues as Amsterdam’s Opera Ship and Hotel Bosch in Arnhem. 24 years later, he returns – older, but not necessarily wiser – armed with a new repertoire of songs written and translated during his 9 year sojourn in Russia. His finger-picking guitar and blues-tinged harmonica style are reminiscent of earlier artists such as Bob Dylan and Hannes Wader while his singing is also influenced by blues, classical and Russian styles. His English translations of Vladimir Vysotsky and Soviet wartime songs are well-known in Russia and Scotland. He will perform in Cafe De Kroeg in Arnhem on Friday 2nd June and Noorderlicht Cafe in Amsterdam on Sunday 4th of June.
